What Is An E-Cigarette
To put it simply it is an electrical gadget that mimics smoking with a tobacco cigarette. Everything from the most basic starter kit up to the most elaborate devices producing huge clouds of vapour are all E-Cigarettes.
There is a but though, within the industry the term e-cigarette is now generally used to describe the bog standard pen style of starter e-cigarette. A good example of this is the Innokin Endura T18E.
How do they work?
Basically a battery heats up a metal coil, the coil is surrounded by e-liquid which soaks into a cotton core, this e-liquid is super heated to “vaporise” it. This is when you inhale and the vapour is drawn into your lungs, just like a real cigarette.
Are they safe?
I am not medically qualified to say for sure but there is a lot of research proving they are certainly safer than cigarettes, in fact just recently the UK government has issued a report saying they are 95% safer the cigarettes, you can read the report here. After all the only thing you are inhaling is water vapour and food flavouring, providing you only use regulated and legal E-liquids.
Are they Expensive?
They can be. kits start from around £20 and up from there, some are as much as £200. When you compare to smoking though they are very inexpensive. Once you choose which starter kit you want all you have to buy after that is e-liquid and coils. One 10ml bottle of liquid will last 1 week if you smoke the equivalent of 20 a day, and typically a bottle is around £3. So you can see where you save the money!!
Which E-liquid should I choose?
all always ensure that the E-liquids on sale are UK regulated and legal, in other words TPD compliant. E-liquids typically now start with 18mg nicotine, then drop to 12, 6, 3 then 0 nicotine. If your a heavy smoker start with 18mg liquids then slowly reduce the nicotine level until you have weaned off your nicotine addiction. Once you have settled on strength it is then just a case of choosing your flavour!! A good starting point is the Ultimate Version 2 range here.
